This brief summarizes lessons learned from three Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs integrating financial capability services into their tax season efforts. Financial capability is the capacity—based on knowledge, skills, and access—to manage financial resources effectively. The brief is organized in three sections: planning for integration and engaging the team, selecting and integrating financial capability services, and deciding who will provide the selected financial capability services. The brief was produced by Prosperity Now under contract to the Office of Community Services in the Administration for Children and Families, a division of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
