OUR IMPACT DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The COVID-19 pandemic underscored for the entire nation what every community that has endured a natural disaster knows: Americans must be able to trust that when the unexpected happens, when crisis hits their community or their family, a skilled, dependable national network of local first responders will be there to answer the call. The following reports share stories and showcase data demonstrating how that network – America’s 1,000+ Community Action Agencies (CAAs) located in 99% of counties – met the need.

This report highlights ways in which the Community Action Network adapted during the early days of the pandemic, not only to continue providing assistance to people experiencing hardship across America, but also to rapidly expand services, initiate new services, and engage community partners in joint problem solving. In communities large and small, rural and urban, Community Action Agencies met and responded to the challenges created by the crisis. This report contains a few of these stories with more details provided in the Appendix. It is by no means the full story of the Community Action response to COVID-19, but we hope it reinforces the critical role that Community Action plays in communities everyday, especially during times of crisis.
