SUMMARY:Weatherization at 50: From Energy Crisis to National Impact
DESCRIPTION:As the Weatherization Assistance Program approaches 50 years of service\, this session will explore how a national response to the energy crisis of the 1970s grew into one of the nation’s most impactful energy savings programs. Participants will examine the origins and evolution of Weatherization\, the growth of the national network\, and the program’s lasting impact on lowering household energy costs and burden\, housing stability\, health and safety\, workforce development\, and local communities. What began as basic energy conservation services has expanded into a nationwide network of approximately 650 local agencies delivering energy savings to low-income households across the country. \nThe session will also highlight how Weatherization continues to evolve through innovation\, technology\, advanced diagnostics\, strategic partnerships\, healthy homes approaches\, and workforce initiatives designed to serve and support across America. From introducing new technologies in the home to strengthening local economies and creating career pathways\, Weatherization continues to expand its role and impact nationwide. \nIn addition\, NCAP will provide updates on current initiatives and share what we are hearing directly from the network related to operational challenges\, workforce sustainability\, and leverage funding opportunities. \nDesigned for State Associations and network partners\, this conversation will celebrate Weatherization’s legacy while exploring how the network can continue adapting\, growing\, innovating\, and leading into the future. \nClick here to register for the webinar.
