SUMMARY:Evaluating Whole Family Approach Pilots: Metropolitan Action Commission 2Gen Evaluation Report
DESCRIPTION:The Metropolitan Action Commission is partnering with families to achieve their goals of getting out of poverty through a Two-Generation/Whole Family approach.  MAC’s initiative provides short-term and high-yield job trainings aimed to help Head Start/ Early Head Start parents move toward attaining living-wage jobs.  This type of opportunity creates a pathway out of poverty for many families. The results are also correlated to child outcomes for those children whose parents participate in our 2 GEN initiatives. \nDr. Cynthia Croom\, Executive Director of Metro Action\, will present the results of MAC’s three-year 2Gen/Whole Family pilot\, which includes participant and stakeholder experiences and outcomes as well as lessons learned by the agency.  In addition to the presentation\, three Head Start/Early Head Start parents from the last cohort\, who are currently working in full-time internship positions\, and leaders from two of the partnering agencies will be present to discuss their experience. \nThe Metropolitan Action Commission 2 Gen/Whole Family Initiative Evaluation Report-2019\, which was conducted by a third-party evaluator\, Thomas P. Miller and Associates\, will be available to all registered participants at the conclusion. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:*POSTPONED* Food as Medicine – Partnering to improve Food Security and Health Outcomes among Vulnerable Populations
DESCRIPTION:A county without poverty – thriving\, resilient\, and prosperous communities for ALL.  This is what ALL IN envisions in its efforts to eradicate poverty in Alameda County\, California. Through collaboration across a variety of partnerships and innovation\, ALL IN seeks to ensure that all families are able to: \n\nMeet their basic needs for food\, shelter\, healthcare\, and safety\nEarn an income that allows for self-sufficiency and asset building\nObtain a quality education that positions the next generation for academic and economic success\n\nSince 2014\, ALL IN has launched strategies addressing school readiness and food security (food recovery and food as medicine)\, zeroing in on implementing these strategies at the neighborhood level to ensure that they are reflective and responsive of the community’s needs. \nThrough their Food as Medicine initiative\, ALL IN is scaling a clinically integrated model at local federally qualified health centers that features building up modular and scalable health infrastructure:  1) Food farmacies featuring produces grown through regenerative agricultural approaches by a social enterprise of the County Sherriff’s Office and 2) behavioral pharmacy group medical visits through a partnership with a community based organization. ALL IN is working with a public health plan to help provide seed funding to support this effort. This webinar will feature presenters from ALL IN and its partners: Alameda Alliance\, Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center\, Open Source Wellness and Dig Deep Farms – highlighting the implementation of this model and where opportunities lie to engage community and human service partners to not only address food security and health outcomes but also other social and structural determinants of health. \nRegister Here
