SUMMARY:Community Action Network COVID-19 Weekly Update
DESCRIPTION:Join Community Action National Partners CAP\, CAPLAW and NASCSP for a weekly update on the impact of COVID-19 on the network\, taking place every Thursday at 3 ET / 2 CT / 1 MT / 12 PT (3 AST / 10 AKST / 9 HST) beginning on April 2\, 2020.  \nThe content for these national partner calls will vary from week to week and the calls are intended to be a standing meeting for the Network to share information and hear about issues as needed. There will be no standing agenda\, per se\, and it will vary depending on the given issues at the moment. Those who can attend are welcome to do so and this is open to the entire Community Action Network. These meetings will likely go beyond the four weeks\, but we will assess the frequency\, accessibility\, and usefulness to ensure the next phase of meetings meets the Network’s needs. \nThere will still be other webinars offered by the National Partners on specific content and we recognize that the information coming at all of us right now is like a fire hose. We will do our best to make the best use of our communication with you. \nWhile we may be physically distant\, it is imperative that we stay connected during this time. We want to hear from you and be able to share information during this challenging time. \nEach session will allow for questions to be submitted and we will do our best to address them. \nCommunity Action cares about the entire community. And now more than ever we are helping people help themselves and each other. Thank you for all you are doing. \nREGISTER: April 2 | April 9 | April 16 | April 23

SUMMARY:CARES Act Loans and Tax Credits for Nonprofit Organizations
DESCRIPTION:The Coronavirus Aid\, Relief and Economic Security Act (the CARES Act)\, which was signed into law on March 27\, 2020\, offers various forms of aid to nonprofit Community Action Agencies (CAAs) and other members of the Community Action network whose operations have been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. The CARES Act makes partially-forgivable loans and grants from the Small Business Administration and the U.S. Treasury available to qualifying nonprofit organizations. The CARES Act also offers payroll tax credits for employers that keep paying their employees despite total or partial suspension of operations due to COVID-19\, and pushes back the deadline for certain 2020 payroll taxes altogether. \nJoin CAPLAW as they discuss the details of the new law and identify key considerations for nonprofit CAAs and network organizations seeking to take advantage of these benefits. \nRegister

\nREGISTER: April 9 | April 16 | April 23
