SUMMARY:Empowering Your Board to Lead: Resources for Board Training and Orientation
DESCRIPTION:Board members\, whether seasoned or recently elected to the board\, need tools equipping them to take on the responsibilities of overseeing a Community Action Agency (CAA)’s operations and programs. This webinar will spotlight the following resources\, developed by CAPLAW in collaboration with the Community Action Partnership: (1) two annotated presentations on tripartite board roles and responsibilities—one for public CAAs and the other for nonprofit CAAs—that state CSBG offices\, state associations\, and CAAs can use to train and orient their boards and staff; and (2) a series of four guides that help boards of CAAs with Head Start programs implement specific governance requirements that overlap between the CSBG Organizational Standards and the Head Start Performance Standards (board composition\, written democratic selection procedures\, conflict of interest policies\, and board required actions). The webinar will discuss the intended audience of each resource\, its role within an overall board training strategy\, and how to use the resource effectively. \nRegister
