SUMMARY:Multifamily Weatherization: Opportunities and Challenges
DESCRIPTION:ICAST is a national 501c3 non-profit organization that specializes in retrofitting multifamily affordable housing properties. As a Weatherization Assistance Subgrantee\, ICAST has helped Community Action Agencies\, WAP subgrantees and State Weatherization Administrators tackle multifamily weatherization projects. ICAST was also recently awarded an Enhancement and Innovation Grant by the Department of Energy to help state administrators and WAP subgrantees target multifamily properties. \nThis session will cover the challenges to utilizing WAP funding on multifamily units including: \n\nTechnical and Logistical Challenges: Different modeling/audit requirements\, different contractor skill sets etc.\nProgrammatic Challenges: Securing cost share from owners\, income qualification guidelines\, the split incentive and working with multiple stakeholders (property owner\, property manager\, low-income client etc.)\nExperience Challenges: Has the state administrator been working with DOE on multifamily WAP projects\, is there a streamlined reporting/project methodology? Do you know how to target and outreach to multifamily properties\, as well as perform follow up education\, rather than have them come to you?\n\nThe session will also cover opportunities for working with multifamily housing including: \n\nLeveraging Additional Funding\nServing more households\nServing highly disadvantaged/underserved groups such as low income disabled individuals\, seniors and people of color which disproportionately live in multifamily housing\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\nLearn how to target multifamily properties which will be receptive to WAP\nLearn how to better talk about and secure cost share\nLearn about the resources available to help work with multifamily properties\n\nClick here to register.
